2012 Dragons

This year almost a record number of extremely imaginative dragons were on display around the village as part of the St George’s Day celebrations organised by the Village Association. Unfortunately the children’s dragon at Little Acorns didn’t survive the attrocious weather so no photo is available. Here are pictures of the other entries including the mysterious dragon crime scene in the dry pond.

The dragons have been judged by Tim O’Brien, the Minister and Pastor of Didcot Baptist Church, and the results are as follows:

1st Place. The Woodleys dragon in the phone box
2nd Place. The dragon with the hand-knitted woolly scarf
Highly commended. The judge liked the Olympic theme
Highly commended. The Jubilee dragon in the tent
Most humorous dragon. The dragon crime scene

The judge asked that special mention should be made of the two dragons available for judging where children had been involved and a special award will be given to the dragon at No.12 York Road, and the dragon at Orchard House, Main Street. Unfortunately the children’s dragon at Little Acorns didn’t survive the attrocious weather.

Special mention. The dragon at 12 York Road
Special mention. The dragon at Orchard House

Congratulations to the families who made all these dragons and to everyone else for their effort.
